Pre-64 Win model 70 .300 H+H

No,I never bothered with the chrony till I found an accurate load.I have a 26" pipe on this so it should be around 3000 fps or thereabouts. Will confirm that .It didn't care for IMR 4350,IMR 4831 or H4831. Might try RE#19 next....not as sharp a recoil as the .308 Norma Magnum ,I can only attribute to the gentle sloping brass shoulder....Harold

It's a hunting rig not a target rifle, but I don't see any reason any game will survive a 300 yard encounter if I do my part.Heading down to southern AB with my son for a Trophy antelope hunt Sept 30 that took him 11 years to get a tag on the draw system!

That's an awesome group esp for a 30 cal magnum. I should try some of that RL in my 30-06
The 300 H&H was used as a long range target round way back when.

"The cartridge won the 1000-yard Wimbledon Cup Match at Camp Perry in 1935, and the international 1,000 yard competition in 1937. Winchester chambered the Model 70 in .300 Holland & Holland Magnum in 1937."

Huh, I thought them things were like rabbits; seemed like lots when we drove the back roads south of the Hat. Kinda gave me an urge to go after them myself, but a draw takes the shine off it for nonresidents.

RL 22 gave me an impressive .6" 5 shot group the other day with 180gr NABs in my 30-06. RL 15 does the same in my 375 H&H with 260gr NABs. I will never change my powder in those two guns.

Good work on the loads.
