Pre Accutrigger replacement

when compared to the best aftermarket triggers sure, but it is one of the better factory triggers.

I have a number of nice triggers including a Jewell so I know a great trigger when I see one. I find my Factory savage trigger perfectly suitable with a spring replacement.

I also have not seen or heard of sideways pressure binding or setting off the savage trigger safety. If you pull is anything other then gentle straight back, your trigger is not your problem.

Which isn't really saying much, is it? The big brands have a tendency to make their triggers "litigation proof". Unless you are getting a AI or a TRG, a factory trigger usually leaves a lot to be desired.

If you are planning on replacing a factory trigger, may as well replace it with a good trigger rather than a semi-okay factory trigger.

I'm assuming you had the trigger set at/around its lightest weight. Accutriggers can be a royal pain in the ass when set low. I like to shoot with gloves, and it causes me to have to re-#### the bolt 1-2 times in 20, even set around the 3 lbs mark. I've spent to much cash at the moment and want to replace my stock first, so the trigger will have to wait. I've started a thread in gunsmithing to see if there is a way for me to do a work around on the accutrigger, or a way to lighten up an old Stevens 200 trigger I have. No useful replies from anyone who I trust from past posts. Since no one wants to answer the obvious, how about this, can anyone explain how the safety tab works in the Accutrigger? If it wasn't there would it make the trigger unpredictable? If it's there to just keep the trigger from going off when set really light from working the bolt hard etc., how is it any different than other triggers. Set your (insert brand name here) as light as you can and work the bolt hard, tell me what happens...

So I bought one of the first Savage 10 TR when they had the military/ law enforcement deals. Shot a couple boxes of factory rounds then dove into the world of reloading and load developement for this rifle. The trigger was not set at the lightest or the heaviest but somewhere in between. Out of nowhere the rifle started acting up. Fail to ####, if it did ####, the safety leaver would engage rifle would not go bang. Tried a couple different settings on the accutrigger, same thing. I did notice however, the rifle seemed to function out of the stock but would not function in the stock. I would install the action properly tourque down the action screws get the rifle to function properly, get the the range and upon loading it the same issue would arise. In my frustration I packaged it up and sent it to a gunsmith. He had the same issues gun would function out of the stock but not in the stock. Ordered a new stock off the EE and had it shipped to him. Same issue. Gunsmith lives close to Savage repair depot and was able to replace the sear. Same issue. We ended up getting a great deal on a chassis. Rifle function great, gunsmith sends me photos of groups shot and I get the rifle back. Rifle works great start load development again, rifle stops working, exact same issue. Take rifle home remove from chassis and realize that the front pin at the sear has backed out. I push it back in rifle runs great again, so I add some e clips to ensure it can't back out again. Head to the range half way through load developement issue happens yet again. Take rifle apart everything looks fine. Rifle will not #### if it does #### safety spoon comes forward rifle will not go bang. Contact Mystic Precision, order and install a Timney trigger. Rifle goes cocks , goes bang, every pull of the trigger. Maybe I got a dud maybe not, but I spent a ####load of time and money to figure it out. If I was a betting man, I'd bet all my issues would have been solved by getting rid of that accutrigger right from the get go.
