It's the SKS model 41. It was made around June/July of 1941. It was chambered in 7.62X54R and looks similar to the SKS45 with the exception of an unusual flash supressor or compensator. The receiver, the bolt carrier and cover with the takedown lever, rear sight, and stock appear much the same but the handguard extends almost to the front sight. The magazine is of the same hinged type because removable magazines would get lost or damaged.

It looks like a cross-over between a shortened AVS-36 and a SKS.
So, it really might be an early SKS prototype.
Didn't the SKS 41 shot a pistol round (7.62X25)?

Too bad SKS's didn't come in 7.62x25 and 7.62x54r as well as 7.62x39.
Then I'd only need those three rifles and my life would be content.:)

Why does the one that shoots 7.62x54r(apparently) so less beefy looking then the sks45? Not very smart imo.

i have already pointed out the pic of pre-SKS was reduced in size , you can see the trigger guard is smaller compared to the bottom SKS.

did anybody noticed that the mag is almost flushed with the stock ? so being its a 7.62x54r , that means the mag could hold only 5 rds , 5 rds only for a semi ?
