I have a pre '64 winchester heavy barrel target rifle in .243.
It is a real tack driver but it is a little too heavy for the hunting I do (14lbs before adding the scope and rings).
I don't have the time or energy to give the gun the attention it deserves.
I was wondering if anyone has any idea what I can get for it.
Thanks

Apperantly I exceeded my bandwidth, so never mind this post.

If a mod sees it feel free to do me a favor and delete it.

It's a little hard to say. If I was wanting to buy it from you I'd offer $500.00 but if I wanted to sell it to you I wouldn't take less than a grand assuming the gun is in nice condition. I'm not really up on Winchesters so I can't say how sought after a heavy barrell is but I'm assuming collectors somewhere would want them. I would also think that a .243 is not all that rare so that might bring the price down a bit. To me you have a $1000.00 dollar gun.

Pre 64 M-70s don't have the value in Canada that they bring in the Sates. In a production rifle made between 1946 and 1963 (the .243 came out in the mid '50s) the Blue Book suggests $530 for 60% and $1375 for 100% for a rifle chambered in .243. The target model chambered in .243 is worth 50% to 75% above the listed price if the condition is 90% or better, otherwise there is no difference. In Canada, if your rifle is in nice shape, I think you might get between $750 and $1000.
