planning to take off the le6920's carry handle sight and install an optic.

there anything i can do BEFORE i take it off so that it will keep its zero (having invested time and ammo in setting the sights up)?

thanks for any comments.

Mark the nuts with witness marks or paint so you tighten it to a similar value. You should apply witness marks to all bolts/nuts as indicators they're backing off

makes sense- another use for Liquid Paper. Thanks!

I usually push all rail mounted items/optics all the way forward in their grooves before tightening to be consistent.

For something like sights, you'd probably need more than just torque markings. Might be worth counting rotations as well.

Don't worry about it and spend 15 min and 20 rounds re-zeroing it?

Honestly, even without the witness marks, I don't see any issues. I've removed and reinstalled my irons several times with no change in POI. I tried the same with one of my rimfire rifles with glass and similar results. Cheap glass, cheap mounts and return to zero.
