Any long range rifle courses in SE Ontario? Interested in getting into it without buying an immensely expensive rifle.

Long range rifle and SEOntario don’t go together. Unless you know someone with their own property your outah luck. Most clubs are 300 or maybe slightly more but nothing long range other than military base. You don’t require a custom built super expensive rifle for long range either. The purpose built guns are definitely advantageous. Shooting rimfire long range is possible and transfers to long range centerfire. If you can shoot LR rimfire you have the groundwork for LR centerfire.

I am not sure where SE Ontario starts or ends. Look into joining the Ontario Rifle Association (most of the shooting happens at CFB Borden) or the National Capital Rifle Association (Ottawa). Both run Introductory Days.
Don't spend any money on a rifle until you get out to a few of these events.

If your talking long range with a centerfire, it needs to be at least 800 or farther. With the guns, bullets and glass today, 400,500 600 is basically boring to anyone with skill. Other than refining loads or working on form your just wasting good components and high BC bullets. If you can shoot a rimfire at 300 yards with consistency, youll have a great foothold on what wind can do. With bullets having BCs 4-6x that of rimfire and speeds 2.5- 3X that of sub sonic inconsistent rimfire its much easier and then add custom handlooads with SDs below 10 and Im sure a picture will start to form. Shooting 800-2000plus is extremely hard in SEOntario, why I sold my big gun. Even the creeds and BRs are wasted inside 400 unless its a coyote!!

There will be a couple of courses this summer hosted at milcun.com. Near Minden ON. Enhanced long range in July and wind reading in August. These are both week long courses. If you don't have a rifle, one can be made available. The instruction from Keith and Linda is first class. The schedule is not finalized yet and is not posted yet, but keep an eye on osacanada.ca.

Hey there, this is what I am getting set up to do this spring. Joined ORA and signed up for some training that takes place at Borden.

I find that there is NOTHING boring about pair firing a 10 or 15 shot match with two convertible sighters even at 300 meters, let alone 900 and 1,000 !

Is this a yearly thing? Can't make this summer due to prior commitments but would love to jump in next summer if so?
