Ok here we go.

I have reloading 223 before with good results for bolt guns. I have reloaded 223 before for general plinking for the AR but I haven't tried reloading for precision work with an AR.

So what I want to know is what are your tips and tricks for AR reloading and what loads are you shooting that is working for you. I am hoping to get some proven recipes from everyone for some of the heavier projectiles, i.e. 69grain plus and the 52/53 grain match bullets.

Thanks in advance!

Sierra is pretty on the money for their accuracy load with a 77gnSMK. 23.5Varget, Seat to mag length. crimp. For 69SMK, 25.3 varget.

The 77 gr load is quite precise out to 600m. After then, it seams to open up in a hurry. I don't normally shoot with a bipod/rest, so all I was looking for in a load that was appreciably better then I'd shoot off the mag though. Once I found this, I didn't do any further load development. Time to shoot.

I was shooting these out of a R-15. Initially box stock, then later kriegered with a 7.7 twist.

Basically, I'd start with whatever weight SMK you want, and use sierras accuracy load for the ar-15 to start.

Go to 6mmbr.com - they have an AR15 page that should be downloaded and added to your reloading file on the computer.

I would also recommend that you sign up for loadData.com. It cost 30 bucks or something like that - but you will have enough reloading data to sink a battleship for your money.

Thanks everyone. I have been loading for a few years now, probably 10 or so and I do reload for 223 already and have had success with high volume loading for gopher shooting in my bolt guns.

I have reloaded a few thousand for my original AR for general plinking with no issues but I can't seem to get it together for getting a decent load for a precision AR. I think I need to use some better components to get the accuracy.
