Iam sure it’s been asked before, but Iam new the scene, Rifle is on the way(cz457 MTR) 30moa Rail is on the way, I have some vortex 30mm low rings, and bolt knob is on the way too, been collecting single boxes of higher end 22lr as well in anticipation.

My question is, what optic are you guys running? Would like to keep it around $700 or lower, I see a lot of Vortex Diamondback tactical’s in 6-24, is there anything similar in this wheel house? I’ve always been a vortex fan so I don’t really keep up with many other brands, but wouldn’t mind branching out either. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Diamondback Tactical is pretty popular. I currently have a Cabelas Covenant 4 (4-16x) on my rifle. If you get these on sale, they're not a bad deal. When I upgrade, it will probably be for an Athlon.

Are you planning to shoot prs type shooting? If not I would look for better glass than the diamondback. But the reticle and turrets are hard to beat for that price point.

I threw an Athlon Tac 5-25 on mine and took it out yesterday, very impressed so far. Seemed to like Eley Sport. Was stacking 10 in one hole at 50 yards.

I've been using a Bushnell Engage 6-18x50 w/MOA reticle which gives fairly easy visual adjustments for wind/range and various brands of ammo. ex: in my B22 I've zeroed with Fed Champion ('cause I have 2K), then adjust 1-MOA UP for CCI-SV and 1-MOA Down for S&B SV, etc. I do wish I would have bought a higher mag, tho my heartbeat moves POA even now. Gotta chill ;-)

I used a bushnell engage 4-16x44 on my Cz 455 and it was a perfect fit. Glass is nice, turrets are nice, and turrets lock. I ended up selling it, because when dialing elevation, you can get lost because there is no zero stop, or hash marks to show which rotation you were on. I ended up swapping scopes around on my rifles and put my Athlon Ares ETR on the 455, and I’m thinking the scope will stay there. I was banging steel at about 220 yards with a slight wind, and I have to say it was pretty easy. I would try for a Midas TAC if you can up the budget a bit. I think they are around 950$.

The Diamondback tactical is the winner in production class no matter what anyone here says. I personally have shot with all the guys that placed 1,2,3 in production in the eastern championship and they all used Diamondback tacticals. Is there better scopes? Absolutely but not for the money and all the hype about Athlon, well ive never owned one and never will. Seen to many failures with unrepeatable tracking. I have personally owned and presently own many scopes of differtent brands, including Kahles, Zeiss(German),Sightron,Bushnell 6500/LRPS,Vortex Razors,PSTs,Vipers,Nikon Monarchs and a bunch more but you get the idea. Many rant about Vortex being junk, well I own at present 6 different models and id like to wager that ive cranked my turretts as much up,down, left.right as anybody out there. Issues have been none. The proofs in the pudding and lots jump on a bandwagon without ever even owning or using the thing theyre running down. Id rather buy a fake Leupold or even a real one, no thanks. Take a loan for S&B with their ####ty eyebox, you know what I
mean on low power!!! Remember in production theres a $ limit.

Diamondback tactical is a good budget option... if you can swing a little more cash the new Strike Eagle 5-25 would be much nicer, or even better yet an Athlon Midas Tac 5-25.

I should have aimed my budget at $500 and would have ended up at $700 in DB territory! not since I've done $700 I feel Going to end up even higher!

And since I have your guys attention, This may seem silly. But can you confirm these are the exact same rounds? Only difference I can see being the little target symbol. Cost savings on the 100 round box over the 50 round was substantial. Not sure if the new CZ will like them, Just part of the random boxes I've been gathering

Everything I have including a 452 and 457 shoot the CCI SV ammo very well. Not as good as like Eley Club or SK Rifle match etc, but for the price the CCI SV is untouchable IMO.

Hoping it groups good for me aswell. If it does I’ll stock up, also grabbed a few boxes of SK and Eley, just what I’ve been able to find locally, most likely order a variety pack as well, shipping is a bit of a killer though.

Shipping for a case of SK Rifle Match was only $50 for me.

How much do you mean by a case? 500, 1000 or 5000. What I have been seeing is $50 for shipping for $100 worth of ammo, That's a little excessive for me.

For a 22 RF and you are using it for long range, choose a scope that dials perfectly, 300m a 10x is not a handi-cap.

A few weeks ago I set up a Tikka T1x with a 10x SWFA, mid range 'glass' dials and holds zero perfectly.

Sight in at 25 yards, bullet crosses line of sight at 43.7 yards (silhouette chicken distance) and is down 2.7 mils at 110 yards.

10 shot groups at 110 yards are in the 1.25" range with CCI SV being best and Federal Match SV an extremely close second.

25 yard groups are one ragged hole with both.

I did not employ a rail with 20,30 or 40 moa built in as the SWFA has enough internal elevation to at least 300m.

This rifle is used as a bench rest trainor as I have other Tikka T3's and can change the factory stock to a McMillan A3-5 and others.

At 300m the time of flight (at 1050 ft/s mv and 0.145 G1 bc) is 1.16 seconds, which is about equivalent to my 260 target load at 805 m.
