Howdy folks,

Got my bush deer gun sighted in this weekend and am completely shocked by the group it produced as per below (off sandbags at 100yds). I was shooting Hornady 240gr XTP and man, did the gun like that ammo. Anyone used this bullet on deer? Should I be leary of a hollow point bullet at rifle velocity on deer?

Gun is set up with Leupold 1-4x20 and I am super excited!

Funny thing is I have the Ruger 44 Carbine, with a Leupold VX-3 1.5-5 x 20 and it loves the same bullets as yours, pretty much any 240 grain and up! I havent shot many groups like yours though... Great shooting!

BTW, I have shot Moose with the bullet you are using, works wonders.... Nothing I have ever shot with the little 44 ever took another step, all dropped like you flipped a switch.

I have shot this gun countless times as its been in the family for over 30 yrs but I have never hunted with it always favouring my 308. I have decided this year is the year to try er out! I was a little concerned about the XTP bullet but seems like its a good choice for deer. Will post results should there be any,

Patrick

I'm very impressed!I have a 44 Mag. carbine in my gun cabinet that I inheritted from my father in law when he passed away.I think I'm going to scope this baby and see what she can do.
