Hi

i am looking to participate in the ORA/NSCC matches next season. I am attempting to find a good rifle/scope combination that will make weight and the only reference i can find regarding weight pretains to F class. The NSCC rule book indicate see reference 6.03... Is there one set weight for the various ranges Borden or Connaught?

6.03 Firearms
1. Precision/Sniper Rifle Description
a. Any rifle with any sight and in any caliber that meets range
regulations. The trigger pull specifications must meet these
rules.

(b) F Class “Farquharson” (F) Rifles meet the above F Class (O) specifications, except that

(i) Only ammunition that completely meets TR specifications (2.23in/5.56mm, max bullet weight 81 gr; 3.08in/7.62mm, maximum bullet weight 156gr) may be used, and

(ii) The overall weight of the rifle, with all attachments, must not exceed 7.25 kg, or 8.25 kg if a bipod or front rest is attached to the rifle. Note: The overall weight limit for F(F) rifles fired from rests will be increased to 8.25kg for the 2005 shooting season.

your help would be greatly appreciated.

Trevor,
Rules as far as F(F) class and TR weights go, they are the same for the ORA and DCRA.
Also note that F(O) weight limit is something like 20 Kg IIRC.

Trevor, there is no weight limit for a rifle used in Precision/Sniper class, you may use a muzzle brake if desired, and any caliber is fine as long as it meets the range safety template. You will not have a trigger pull less than 1 kg for the NSCC, the ORA designates any safe trigger. If you wish to shoot F class with the same rifle you must remove the muzzle brake, and make sure the rifle does not exceed the weight limits. If you compete in the NSCC and wish to participate in the falling plates competition, it does not pay to have a 20 pound rifle unless you exercise regularily.:D

Thanks for the clarification. I was concerned that my scope choice might put me over the 8.25 kg limit.

Regarding falling plate matches as I am on the internet I work out frequently and in great physical shape in reality i am an office jockey and would need to get back into the gym.

I believe the F(O) limit is 10kg or 22 lbs

Thanks for the clarification on weight
Trevor
