Predator hunters winter gear??

Im having some problems as of late in looking for the perfect winter wear for predator hunting?? I layer up with long underwear, sweats and lined windbreaker pants w/ a snow como pant covering the bottom. For my upper body I where a hoody and a Gortex jacket with a snow camo light jacket over it. My problem is I usually get too cold in -30 wearing this and if I wear a Carhart winter suit I feel to bulky and weighed down???? What are you guys using in extreme temps??

Fairly lightweight on the move. LJs, merino wool base layer upper. Fleece top. BDUs below. Ski jacket on top. Then a CF olive jacket. Then when I stop moving, I take a snow suit out of the bag, put it on with the CF jacket on the outside. I am pretty much stay puff marshmallow man at that point, but I am warm.
 
Id try a merino wool base layer, with a layer of fleece, then some sort of wind breaking winter jacket. then put the snow camo over that
 
Layers.....

I wear my waterfowl gear with is heavy duty for Ontario. White top and bottom from Army surplus for camo.

Spend the money on decent long underwear or Underarmour type clothing. It's worth it.
 
If you're sitting still...nothing beats heavy coveralls for warmth. I wear my Tough Duck "Antarctica's"
with a Cabela's 2 piece snow-camo over suit. +Pac boots, balaclava.

And as a plus...the coveralls are my barn wear....so they have a natural cover scent already applied...cow pooo ;)
 
I got natural gear winter lined snow camo bibs and parka. When I go out in weather like you mentioned I put on longunderwear and my halley hanson zippered sweater & Im good to go. I also lately purchased the nat gear lined hood & it worked well requireing nothing underneath. On my feet I go with woody max muck boots & when it gets real cold I pull on my 1400 silent hunters, they are toasty.
 
CDN double knit Balaclava I cut the middle between the eyes and sew up the mouth, this is done because it aids in vision and if the mouth is not sewn it is too loose after you cut the center piece.

I also wear a polar fleece underwear, these are too warm for regular use but when sitting still they are great, then jeans, waterfowl pants and Jacket and Cabelas winter cover ups. I did buy the gloves from cabelas as well but prefer a wool mitt or in milder temps a pair of 69 cent kids stretchy gloves.

For boots I wear my Irish setter pull up boots these are not warm on their own but I usually have 1 pair of thick wool and another pair of warm socks with some wool content. This combo is good for at least 45 minutes of sitting still.

We usually wear under armour cold gear-then helly hansen-then an arctic shield H4 coat and pant-you can lay out calling in that in -40 for quite awhile-still not very heavy to walk in.

I'm really suprised none of you guys picked up on these.....

These likely all contain cotton....and the #1 rule for cold temps is DO NOT WEAR COTTON!

Cotton absorbs moisture vapour and has zero isulation qualitites...ditch the sweats and hoodie and put on some fleece over decent polypro underwear (body armour, etc...the "waffle knit" cotton undies are a death sentence for those in extreme cold)

If you find you are still cold after ditching the cotton, use a tensor bandage to hold a couple of hand warmers (hot hands, etc) against your kidneys...it'll keep your whole body warm.

If that STILL doesn't doesn't do it, pick up a cheap sleeping bag at walmart, and post a WTB ad in the the EE for a Bivvy Bag (waterproof cover for a sleeping bag), and use that "on stand". When the action gets hot just shrug off the bag and shoot :)

Cotton Kills. Hard to believe people have proper outdoor training and experience in hunting etc when they are wearing cotton in sub-zero potentially active activities
 
Everything I wear is of a wicking/quick dry material and I try 3 to 4 layers depending on how much walking I am planning to do.

I cover all of this with white polar fleece coveralls.

Here is a key that I don't see many do I also carry a pack with enough room in it to put the extra layers in as/if the day warms up.

Remember to hydrate as well which is another problem keeping fluids from freezing I have been putting a collapsible fluid container inside my jacket.

When I want a hot drink to try warming up and I can find a spot out of the wind I pull out my Isbit stove and heat up a tea...

The 2 biggest issues I am having is keeping my hands warm while in the stand I have been using fingerless gloves that has the mitten finger covers and slip my trigger finger out when it's time to shoot but when I am using my binoculars the cold air is sneaking in and my fingers are freezing and the other issue is keeping my binoculars from fogging up while I am looking thru them.

I also wear a full face mask/touque with a head sok over it and if that is not enough I also put a jacket hood over.
 
I start with a base layer consisting of Helly-Hanson long sleeve crew neck shirt, long john bottoms & H/H heavy socks next to the skin. Then H/H heavy fleece pant & H/H long sleeve fleece shirt over the base layer and top with Carhardt insulated coveralls. For footwear, Dakota -100C removable liner boots work well and I cover my melon with a fleece snow camo balaclava. I'll top the whole enchilada with a lightweight snow camo jacket, white fleece pants and pile-lined leather mitts. I leave the coveralls & camo jacket unzipped when walking and pull the balaclava down around my neck to stay cooler. If the temp is above -30C, I'll skip the heavy fleece pants.

My friend and I wear a mix of artic shield and raven wear which is really warm but snow sticks to it a bit. Have been an the lake at -25 with a20kt wind on a snowmachine and have been ok wearing artic shield
 
my jacket and pants are actually snowboarding outfit...Made by ripzone, digital snow pattern...works really well. I wear cool-max underneath....A little tip, wear nylon socks under the wool, it will whick the moisture away from your feet.

Head feet hands and balls, you keep those warm and you will have no problems in the bush.
