I just recived my RPAL and i should have my TRG-22 in about a week. I was wondering if their is any prefered factory ammo for this rifle. FMJ,HP etc... also what weight. It will be mostly used for long range paper punching. after i accumulate some cartriges then i will begin to develop my own loads.

just bought some 180 grain softpoint Federal's @ Cdn Tire.

Federal Gold Metal Match, 168 or 175 gr. some South African Surplus if you can find it. handloads for me are 43grs of Ball CS under a 168gr Matchking. using Federal Gold Match brass and Federal Match or regular large rifle primers.
Once I get my new dies and such, I will be going to Lapua brass and 155 Scenars.

slavex, do you know of any good ranges/places in the lower main that are good for longrange shooting eg 600+ meters. I am in coquitlam and today am going by the Poco and Port moody clubs today just to see what they offer. I am used to shooting up in Kamloops where we would just go into the back country and practice. havent been able to find such a place down here yet.

how much do you pay for a box of FGM? how is that compared to reloading?

sorry for all the questions i am just starting out. thanks

You can shoot out to 300m at Mission or go to Volkes but there are only certain days you can shoot there i believe(look into it).

I don't know much about factory .308 ammo but I use 43 gr. of Varget, CCI BR2 primers, 168 gr SMKs and Lapua brass. I have tried the 155 gr Scenars but they weren't as good as the 168 SMKs, I think I will try the 175 SMKs next just for fun.

volkes? i am not sure where you mean is it a range? i will google it.

edit..

found it, are we allowed to use military ranges, i used to be a AirCadet -- lol duz that count.

i guess i could always go up to kamloops. any idea where the 1000m is their. I used to shoot up in Batchlor Heights but that was only like 50m
