What gun do you reach for when you are taking a walk in the fall or any time for that matter? Not necessarily a serious hunting rifle but a gun you could use for targets of opportunity or shooting stumps or whatever.

I used to like my Marlin 1894 loaded with .44Specials, 240 Grain Keith style bullet over some H-110. Today I mostly take a .22 Henry with Skinner Sights.

I also liked a Mossberg 500E .410 loaded with 4's or slugs.

Let's hear about or see them.

Thuty Thuty

If he puts a little more tobasco sauce in that 44, it becomes more potent, at least at shorter ranges, than the Thuty-Thuty.
I might start something here, but that 1894 is much slicker to handle and cycle than is a 94 Winchester.

I used to carry a .22 in one shape or another, then I started grabbing a shotgun on my way out the door and thats what its been like for a while now. I just picked up a marlin 1894ss in 44 mag myself this past Thursday. I can't wait to get out with it.

Depends on what tweaks me at the time, if i'm hunting deer it's usually my 6.5X55 express gun.
if birds, Heaven only knows, could be a BPC shotgun, muzzle loader, 28SXS the list goes on.....:D

For just wandering and a leisurely walk, has to be an old Winchester 94, 30.30... like holding the hand of your first girlfriend.;)

Absolutely!
I find the Winchester takes a pretty stiff shuck to toggle out that bottom gate. I think at the ranges you'd shoot with open sights a good '92 or Marlin 1894 in .44 magnums got a lot going for it.
Mind you mines a .357 so I'm not really in the running.

Usually my Ruger 308win.
Lately, eye've had the desire to pack the 1954 94, 30-30 but the sights just
don't work with my eyes anymore.
Hopefully I'll find a peep sight at the Kamloops gun show for it.
Might try and bless my 250-3000 this year.
Last year I took out my old covered in dust 1892 in 44-40. Nee 1910.
Just cuz......
I have been holding her hand for more than forty years.....
Looky.

Locally my Marlin 1895GS 45-70 loaded with 350gr Swift A-Frames @ 2100fps up country my 21" barreled Rem 700 LSS in 375RUM loaded with 350gr TSX @ 2450fps.

Neither have scopes mounted when I am not hunting both have XS sights ghost ring sights mounted...

Yes you are correct but I dont have one of them but I guess I could take the Rossi 45 Colt instead. I think my old PCMR has more cool factor though.

Might be my Anschutz .22 Hornet, or Browning T2 .22LR. or Puma .38/.357 lever, or any number of shotguns, probably my Browning Citori 16ga. most often.
When I can't decide between rifle and shotgun it might be a Heym BBF .222/16 ga, or a Kreighoff drilling 16x16/7x57R. I like wandering around with a good gun in hand!
