In your experience, what would you choose for an aftermarket barrel in your pistol, why?

Was it worth it?

Did your groups tighten?

Are they permitted in IPSC or PPC?

Decided on giving Storm Lake Barrels a shot. Very excited to compare it to its non-ported factory counterpart, in 4 weeks time  Which apparently is the shortest lead time of all their makes.

Yes, the wait times can be seriously ridiculous. I've handled a few Bar-Sto barrels and pistols with them in, but honestly the way the wait is these days I might be retired before I get to shoot a barrel that I order today. I have been told that NightHawk Custom uses Storm Lake which means their quality control has to be good. Also getting a barrel from the US is much tougher with other suppliers, since Questar does all of the import stuff automatically with Storm Lake it makes them the best choice in my opinion. Let us know how it shoots.

Sad to know you lack the patience for the not un-long wait times for barrel deliveries Ian, lol, or maybe I'm trying to feel better about it.

THis is jumping the gun a bit, but this is from last session @ the club.

The random shots all around the mock bottle are centering shots, basically, I was aiming for the bottle's white brand label.
With only 3 shots in the label, I was shooting a bit high but satisfied by the relatively tight group.

Let's see in a month, hopefully less, how the ported Storm Lake Barrel will fare.

I have had very good luck with Bar-Sto. Ed Brown, KKM, Lone Wolf (Glock), and Storm Lake barrels. All are very good and therefore, I do not have a strong preference ergo, I did not vote. Regards, Richard:)

PS I do not mind factory barrels either

Only one was tack driver.

I have bought 3 BarSto barrels new. The first was a 9mm bull barrel for my Colt Lightweight Commander in 9mm. Superlative tack driver. I could not live up to its potential.
The BHP 40S&W BarSto needed serious work to make it functional. It was jamm city before that. C$150 for the barrel and C$75.00 to make it work.
The BarSto barrel in my 4006 is no better than the factory barrel which isn't saying much.
On the upside, the very nice and competent people at Lone Wolf make fabulous barrels for aftermarket Glocks. My G17 and G34 barrel are better than top notch. Superb.

I have had very good luck with my KKM barrels. The Lone Wolf are OK also. All of these are drop in in my Glocks, some are match, others are conversion (.40 > 9mm) barrels.

Hmm, dunno how KKM slipped under my radar while browsing  GT members speak quite highly of them as well.

Anyhoo, thanks for sharing input fellas.

Praise The Lord!!! My CZ 75B stainless should be arriving tomorrow from Gunnar (great guy btw), should hold me over 'till the storm lake barrel cums.. :D
