Can anyone inform me if preloaded cartridges for the shiloh sharps 45/70 and 40/65 can be purchased? I know that different guns have different preferences but maybe a variety could be sold? Is it illegal to make and sell cartridges for the Sharps? I would be willing to pay a good price.

.45-70 ammo is common in most gun shops. Nearly every ammo maker loads it.
.40-65 isn't so common and it's primarily a reloader's cartridge.
Bertram .40-65 brass can be had from Shooter's Choice in Waterloo, Ont. Cheap it ain't though. $49.95 per 20. It's likely available somewhere closer to you too.

I have to face the inevitable. I already have an 80 hour a week schedule in which I can earn 800 bucks on some days but I guess I will ramp it up to reload.

I would want to make my own ammo for those guns no matter what, you can have absolute control of every step and everything that goes into the ammo. The accuracy of amount of powder dropped, the drop tubing, compression, OAL, Case neck tension, etc., it's all critical. Without alot of attention to these factors you won't be hitting many rams at 500 meters, it doesn't cost alot to get set up and it doesn't take much time, go slow, and go by trial and error.

Yup, but the bright side is, that you can load all you're likely to shoot, in an hour or two in front of the t.v. after you get the hang of it.
