Alright who has one and what do you think of it?
Type of reticle you choose and why?
single or double turn turrets?
How far are you shooting with it?
Cheers

The best hunting reticle I've ever used was in an old Kollmorgen scope. It was etched in glass, a 6 moa circle "suspended" in cross hairs which didn't join in the center. Both the circle and cross hairs were about 1-1.5 moa, which was heavy enough to see in poor light, but not heavy like some Euro "picket fence" posts. With a reasonably flat shooting cartridge it pretty well took the guess work out of ranges up to 300 yds. plus. (6 inch kill zone auto dial:D)
I've been told that the only way to duplicate it would be to have the glass custom made for your scope of choice. Expensive! But possible.

Buds thanks for the FYI, not sure how it fits into the post?
But no worries

I had a 5x25 on 1 of my 50s. Optical clarity was fabulous. The 2 turn turrets are a great inovation and I like that alot. The scope came with Gen 2 mildot reticle with 1/10th mil turrets.
Having been an MOA guy my whole life and having a large quantity of MOA reticle/turret scopes found the transition to mils a PITA, so have replaced it with another 8x32 NF scope.
If Premiere would make the same scope in MOA I would have another 1 in an instant.

I am selling mine at cost if you want a deal on 1 this is it.

a Chap by the handle of koshe put one on a Styer 308 (precision rifle thread) and wrote a novel on the bloody thing. do a search and read some of his posts. Changed it out for the same reasons Rick did, but otherwise I think was very very very happy with the optic.

I read through his posts, sounds like he has some small problems early on, However I'd like to hear from some more owners, as the word is alot of these have been sold here?

If a lot have been sold and you aren't hearing much then guys must be extremely happy with them. When they are pissed there is no end of chatter.

I have the 5-25 on my centerfire rig and the 3-15 on my rimfire trainer. Both are some of the first units that were released. Without a doubt, the finest tactical scopes out there IMO (have done NF, USO and S&B). Optical clarity is amazing. I can spot bullet holes at 300 yards that guys can't see with low-mid end spotting scopes that have twice the magnification.

I honestly can't understand all of the pissing and moaning about transitioning to mils. Different calibers, different loads and different conditions all require different dope. It's just a number you're reading off a ballistics table.

If you're sitting there trying to figure out how many inches x.x mils is at whatever distance, then you aren't grasping how the FFP mil/mil setup works.

Knowing that isn't necessary. Just dial in your dope (read from a chart), fire, MEASURE the miss with the reticle and dial in the correction directly on the turrets. You can do this because with FFP, your reticle measurement is always true. The difficulty is in training yourself not to do all of the needless thinking that is required with the archaic SFP MOA setup.

Both my scope have the Gen 2 XR reticles because once you become familiar with the dope for your load, you can use the reticle for hold-overs and hold-off at any magnification, without touching the turrets. Very nice when you're engaging multiple targets, at multiple distances under a time crunch. Double turn turrets are better because they offer you more elevation. You don't have to use the second revolution, but its there if you need it. The single turn doesn't offer you anything more, like higher resolution. Its only advantage is it negates the possibility of accidentally being on the wrong revolution. Never had an issue because the second revolution indicator is plainly visible. You need at least a 45 MOA base for the 5-25 or you only get about 2/3 of the available elevation.

I've taken the 5-25x out to over 1km. Even with FFP, the reticle is still quite fine. I have never felt that I was at a disadvantage with that scope at long range. Recently won the 900 yard deliberate stage in my class at the ORA Precision Championship using it against scopes that had higher magnification and finer reticles.

Thanks for the input, I'm drinking the Premier Reticle "koolaid" and mine should be here by the end of next week. I agree about the mils and the retcile & turrets.I didn't relaize how easy it is when your reticle and turrets are the same.Good stuff.

People struggle with it because they're trying to use it the way the used the old system. Its like someone switching from DOS to Windows XP, but still trying to load all the programs using the command line interface and getting frustrated because its such a PITA to get to the command line in Windows. When you try and show them that you just need to double-click an icon to load the the program, they tell you: "well this is the way I'm used to doing it and its too hard to re-learn everything, so I'll just go back to DOS"

In tactical scopes, MOA and SFP are going the way of DOS...

Given the cost of this glass I was going to share it between 2 rifles, however I'm now making some moves to get a second.

The quick re-zeriong turrets makes it really nice for sharing. Both my rifles are switch barrel, and I change calibers often.

I playing around with the ISnipe dope. I'm only using 2 calibers .308 & .223 and they are factory loads. One thing about the ISnipe program its shows the mil in a minus value for the difference from the 100yrd (zero) to 600yrds?. Just of the top of my head I think the difference is about 1.07mils, which is very easy to dial or hold over with this scope.

The range that I went to in IN had gongs all the way out to 1000 yards. One of the excercises I would do to memorize my dope was to load up 10 round mags and then engage one gong at each distace as quickly as I could using only the reticle marks. I could get out to 900 yards with the 308 and all the way to 1k with the 6mm without touching the turrets.

Well just a update,I will be taking delivery of my 2nd 5X25 Premier in a few days.
I never would have thought that I'd own one never mind 2!!!
However, I did get rid of 4 other pieces of glass to fund the acquisitions.Truly an outstanding scope.

Here's a couple of new pics with some new glass, :)

Sweet.
Great looking Rifle.

I would have to wipe the drool of something like that everytime I un-boxed it.

Could you mention the base/ring combo. And what is the Bipod up front.

Thanks
