Hi

I've been looking to get myself a new varmint rig after I get back from my next hitch on the rigs and have been wondering about which rings and bases to get. I'm looking at a rem 700 vsf in 22-250 with a bushnell elite 4200 in 4.5-14x40.

Is it worth it to badger/near/pgw?

thanks
ryan

Near makes a beautiful base, but pricey unless you plan on shooting some long range matchs.
Check out Ken Farrel bases and TPS rings for a solid, cheaper combo.

We carry the Warne, TPS and Farrell. All are nice. Best value is the TPS for all rings and bases in the tactical TSR line to the more sleeker look of the HTR. Drop us an email or pm for some pricing you won't be disappointed......demand is so great on TPS they are almost always out of stock.

Check out our site for their link. www.################.com

One of these days we'll upload a price list........

As a dealer of Farrell bases, can you tell me if they are picatinny or weaver rails? I couldn't find the info on thier website.

Ken cross slots are smaller then the 1913 spec. You have to special order them to true pic. spec. Surprising to see how many so called tactical dealers don't know this... hee hee....small dig.

Ken makes nice product as does Warne and TPS. Spending $150 and more on a base (unless its not available through other suppliers) sure gives me the shivers.....the law of diminishing returns applies here big time. Of course if money is no issue, why not.......but I'd rather use those pennies for or towards something else.

TPS also offers their products in high strength 7075 al alloy! A real plus for high performance and weight savings.

I'm a steel on steel type of guy........I'm using a Near 25moa base with TSR steel low rings on my Winchester 70 .308. Probably overkill but I like it.:)

The pic doesn't really do them justice but the quality of the products are top notch and so is the service I will never but anything but Near products for my rifles

I have Farrel bases and rings on 3 of my guns and I have never regretted it. A friend of mine went with TSR rings and when he saw my Farrels he was disappointed with his. Nears are nice but I could almost buy 2 Farrel bases for the price of one Near.

The muzzlebrake and the base is NEAR. However, those rings are definitely Nightforce.

A great match up though!

Really JR ,I know for a fact that those rings are not Night Force [as there is difference that is visable where the parting line is]as I had inspected Near MFG Scope Rings last night when I was in Camrose visiting Richard. It is nice to see that Night Force has copied his scope ring .

Farrel rings are almost twice the price of TPS rings.....so if you go with TSR/Near or Farrell rings and bases it would be the same price.......
I will try Farrell's base on my savage in the near future, you can get them directly from savage for $50US which is about 30% cheaper than he lists them on his website. I guess I will have to go with a weaver spec ring, TSRW's most likely, as the base isn't 1913 spec and I don't want any surprises.
I definately like the locking nut better on the TSR's than the Farrell allen key arrangement. I still don't think there is a better set of rings for $100CAD than the TPS line.

Savage is correct, those definately are not Nightforce rings. Although I do have the Nightforce Titanium rings on my Sendero and they are great aswell but I would rather spend the extra couple of bucks and buy from Richard where I know if there is a problem I can have a new set of rings faster than I can send these out!
