Preorder firearm pending PAL approval?

I’m currently waiting for my RPAL to go through. I want a firearm that usually takes a few months to arrive if ordered. Is it possible to pay in advance and have them send in the order and finalize the transaction when my PAL comes in?
I’m looking for a competition gun for the upcoming season and don’t want to have to buy something just because it’s what is available when I get my license.

I did this, it's not a bad idea. Most places will let you put down a deposit without the need to type in your pal. It's often stated the pal is required before it ships and that's it.

Contact the retailer directly. They might agree to accomodate you in your scheme.
