Prescription shooting glasses?

my local optician fitted me out- all you really need are SHATTERPROOF LENSES- the ones made from mineral- if you're really paranoid about glass going into the eye, that sort of thing, just get a pair of PROTECTIVE GOGGLES and wear those over your regular glasses- you can get those at a number of companies, like acklands granger, mine safety supply, etc- it's a whole lot CHEAPER than going the presription/shatterproof and provides a better protection in that it butts to your face- with normal glasses, you normally have a gap between the frame and the front of your face- the goggles eliminate that- i've had more than a couple of hot rounds go down there

Check out DAA Optics Model Alpha. They come with multiple interchangble lenses and an insert for your precription. Just bought a pair this weekend.

Almost anyone who makes prescription glasses will make you some polycarbonate lensed safety glasses with shields or (wrap glasses-if your prescription isn't strong). Anywhere, Walmart, independent opticians. If you want Oakley designer glasses to go shooting, go for it. A $100 pair is good enough for me.

I tried all kinds of inserts and hated them. Its a toss-up, unless you are prepared to spend top $$.

I'm using a large aviator frame with polycarbonate Rx lenses tinted 10% yellow. I ordered them from 39dollarglasses, shipped to Canada for under $60. I was so impressed I ordered another pair with a dark tint for outdoors.

Before posting here I didn't have any options now I have too many, thank you for helping me out. Called oakley already they said I have to go through my optician, but don't want to go Oakley route because I expect it to be $300 option, but if I'll get unbeatable quality then I'll buy them...............................thinking, thinking......evaluating........

Here's how the oakelys look with RX, she tried many other options but these were the best fit/quality. They are optically perfect.

How old are you? Do you wear bi-focals?

For your shooting eye you want a prescription that brings the front sight into sharp focus. This lens will be the one that corrects your astigmatism and has a modified reading lens type strength. I call it my computer prescription because the computer screen is at about the same distance as my front sight, and I have a pair of glasses made that have two lenses that are 100% set for that distance.

For pistol shooting only one lens is made for that distance. the other lens is a 'normal" lens so you can see the bullet holes in the target. It can be a bifocal if you need that.

The lenses are polycarbonate, very strong, very cheap and shatterproof.

I have two pair made. One is clear, for indoors and one is sunglass tinted, for outdoors (CQB).

These are made with 'normal" frames. I would prefer they were made with safety glass frames that have the side guards to stop flying pistol brass.

They cost about $65.
