Preservation

I am in need of some advice re: preservatives for stored guns, I'm using vpi and dessicants, but I need some kind of coating that can be wiped off easily (unlike cosmoline) and will provide long term protection. I guess it can't come from Brownells as they don't ship POL up here. Thanks.

How long term? The less "waxy" or sticky the coating is, the shorter it lasts. Something like cosmoline or LPS3 lasts for years in the open, and in indoor storage conditions will last decades, perhaps as much as a century. Drawback is they are a bugger to remove.
A medium-heavy non-detergent motor oil, like maybe a 30 or 50 viscosity will probably last a couple of years in a storage space like a safe, dust and air circulation being enemies of the protective film.
