Preserving Antlers Velvet

I shot my first moose a week ago, but we forgot to bring formaldehyde to preserve the velvet. Is there anything I can do now to preserve it so it does not rot or am I outta luck?

Your outta luck and some times formaldehyde doesn't work. Some taxidermist can spray velvet back on.

Give the hyde a shot anyways. If it doesnt work you didnt lose anything

Turns out we just left it in the manure pile it was already getting pretty stinky and my father inlaw was worried about it as the ends were still soft. I will post some pics when I'm infront of the computer and not my phone.

Correct me if wrong but can white gas (for camping stoves) not be used?
