Whats everyones take on attempting to prolong the life of true case colors? Coatings, lacquer, clear coat, tru oil, or simply g96?
Seems to be many opinions on the net and i was curious as to what the folks at cgn believe to be best.

Don't listen to Mr Dawe. What the hell does he know!:stirthepot2:

Seriously, I'm with Gunaholic....I use wax. Mind you, I haven't owned any of them long enough myself to have worn the colours off so what the hell do I know.

The British traditionally used lacquer, but they seldom renewed, not really valuing the colours very much, they are after all just the by product of the very important case hardening process. Personally I just use a dab of Ballistol on a swab after use, seems to work fine.

I have used clear "head cement" used in tying flies. -- thin wit a small amount of thinner -- apply with a clean lint free cloth and let dry -- do not 2nd coat for 24 hours. Have used tru-oil but over time it can yellow.
