I am sure this has been asked before, but the search function blows. I apologize in advance for some of you answering the same question twce.

After getting to reload some rounds on a friends press, I would now like to get my own system going.

I dont shoot huge amounts, so a progressive isn't cost effective. A good turret will suffice just fine. I figure a budget of about $500 give or take for the kit would be about what I am good to spend. I can spend more if it is worth it.

I have a set of RCBS dies, and all components, now just need the rest. I would like to reload for 5.56mm and .40s&w.

I have looked at the sponsors, and all the discriptions and add-ons and the like have confused me.

What turret press kit would you guys recommend? And any hints on who might stock it? Preferably in Western Canada, but if it is back East then so be it.

Thanks in advance, Drae

The Lee Classic Turret is made from Cast Iron and a 4 hole Aluminum turret (which can be changed easily so as to leave your dies in it), the rest of the press is steel/iron. The old Lee "Value" Turret with 3 or 4 hole was aluminum or other cheaper metal. I have a Classic Turret and it's a great choice for rifle or medium volume pistol loading. They offer it in a Classic Turret kit #90304 that includes a manual for around $210 and you will a need $4 Lee case length gauge for .223Rem/5.56 #90114 to work with the trimmer included in the kit. Also 1/4" bolts to hold it to the bench, and a set of digital calipres to measure OAL of rounds. Do you have shellholders for your calibres to go with the dies? Check out FS Reloading in Wisconsin for Lee gear.

I bought a Lee Turret press in 1987. Still got it and reload numerous rifle & pistol calibres with it. Initially had some trouble
with the nylon bushing for the auto index but once set right I haven't had to change it for a number of years.

And, if you break a part, you send an E-mail to Lee with a picture of the broken part and they'll send you a new part free!

Can't beat that.

Yes I failed to mention that just about all common gun items are drying up in the US including mags, ammo, reloading tools and components due to recent events.

I would get the lee classic cast turret. I personally bought a single stage regular, but should have gotten the classic turret.
It will always be useful, even if one day you go progressive, you still need another press for large magnums, precision rifle reloads, or separate operations like de priming.

The main advantage with the turret over the single stage is that once the turret is set, you never need to adjust it again for the same components.

I looked high and low and could not find a Lee turret press. So I went to my local gun store and bought a Hornady LNL AP Loader for just shy of $600 tax in. Hopefully this will work for me :)

Thank you all for the advice and opinions!
