Were would one look to find a used but still shoot-able ISSF compliant target rifle. Seems to be a dearth of them hear on CGN.

Any good links?

Were the Lakefield 91 series any good? Worth $650?

Most people are using fairly high end rifles for the ISSF free rifle event. Approx. half of the shooters at the nationals this year had aluminum stocked rifles, and others at the very least were using Match 54's. How serious are you looking to get into this? At the club or provincial level a Match 64 would suffice, but even then....

Preatty well any gun will qualify for the ISSF free rifle event. - Your best choice on the cheaper end would probably still be a Match 64 - but if you can afford one take a look at the match 54. Johan Sauer, the shooter who is representing Canada at Beijing for prone right now, is using a stock 54 (wooden stock). So if you can find one for $1200 or so, you can be very competitive.

Tradex had some nice Schultz & Larson M70 target .22's for a good price...$200-$300. I think they are sold out now though. I bought 3 of them....

I have a Lakefield 91T I bought on the equipment exchange this summer. Its an excellent shooter, but only a single shot. There was some great information on the Savage board about how to adjust trigger pull and creep. I've managed some 5 shot 50 yard groups off the bench with a spread in the 0.2's, but to get that it takes near robotic repetition of what you did on the last 4 shots. Looks a lot like that Schultz and Larson pictured above, but the wood isn't as nice. What kind are being offered for $650? Must be something fancier than I have as I paid around $350 for mine.

Just club level, trying to broaden my shooting horizons. The interest in Lakefields is purely for collection. I used to pour over Lakefield Arms catalogs when younger and am now trying to assemble a working collection of Canadian made 64B's, and the 9x series.

Damn, I missed those and I check his site fairly regularly. Why 3? Club guns?

Do you have a link to the Savage board? There seems to be a few.

My mistake, it wasn't a 91T or 91TR, It was a 90B with original accessories that I saw for that price. Mint, with the origianl "coat hanger wire" butt hook.

Bought 3 cause I'm greedy.....:)
I hadn't seen these available before here, so I scooped up 3 of them. Nice solid rifles with a great 2 stage trigger.

If you are just shooting at the club level you may want to look in at competing in Sporting rifle isntead. This is an event that is only shot in Canada but is a fairly popular event. It doesn't require a lot of expensive gear (although most people have at least a shooting jacket). Rules are basically that the gun must weight under 4kg, trigger has to be over 1kg, and must not have a whole bunch of adjustments on them. The sporting rifle looks similar to many of the guns pictured above.

Unfortunately the guns above just do not cut it for the ISSF events. Although they may shoot well off the bench trying to shoot one prone is going to be fairly difficult.

Just something to think about.

We've run a few LSBA winter matchs in Hunter-class at BRRC, but whipping up support is a tough slog...rifle guys in a pistol club don't get much respect.:p

I'll go grep the sporting regs and have a look.

ARGH! Hitzy's last photo spread has done me in....and Tradex had one left in stock (not on his web the site, I had to beg). :D Tradex made it too easy.....and he's got P1's for sale too....must hold out.....

M70 inbound.....please Mr. Postman...hurry!
