Hello Forums,

I'm looking to purchase a firearm for wilderness protection. This is a P229 in .40S&W. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind giving this a quick appraisal to what you think might be a fair price?

Thank you
.C

"Sig P229 Stainless in 40 SW converted to DA/SA with nylon grip installed. This was previously DA Kellerman trigger system. All parts included to switch back are included with the Nill wood grips as well. 2 Magazines included. Original case as well. SAS Sig Anti Snag melt job is very well done, Custom shop guns are rare and will just get more rare."

(Apparently I can't post images or links, so it'll have to be based off of posting title and above description)

If the pistol is listed as such somewhere then there must also be an asking price. If you're willing to pay that, then that's what it's 'worth'.

Also, the .40 S&W in anything wouldn't be my first choice in a legally carried, wilderness protection firearm. ;)

I've looked at that listing. It's a good price for what you're getting. The custom shop work on it is top notch and the finish is really nice on those SAS guns. It's what, $1600? For a SIG Sauer custom shop gun. It's a good deal - if that's the kind of gun you want.

Personally if I was carrying for trap/wilderness protection - I would go for a full size gun with a decocker or manual safety, or a big ####ing 10 mm. Maybe if you can find an 8-shot .357 mag revolver like the 627 Performance Center that Elwood Epps has listed right now.

The SAS is a cool gun, but extremely niche-market. The same guy had the 9mm version and it sold very quickly. .40 is hard to control on small guns.
