I'm helping an older friend of the family get a rough price on the guns he owns so he can sell them and was hoping to ask for CGN's input on its possible value. Unfortunately past the pictures I haven't been able to get any info on bore condition or lockup/mechanical condition and don't think I will be able to do so. A rough guesstimate would be enough in any event as he's not overly interested past selling them. I'd save you guys the trouble but I don't know anything about values or markings on martini henrys. What I can tell about the gun comes from the pics, mainly that it's an 1887 production MKIV Martini Enfield that seems to have been converted from short lever at some point.

value on a MKIV martini is about $700-$800. but right now there is a flood in the market. you would be lucky to get $400 for one right now.

it all depends on bore condition and outside metal condition also where it came from would help value it is it a Nepal cache gun or one that was sold off on the civilian market

Unfortunately I'm working with pretty limited info - I've asked but been told nothing. I'm doing this as a favor so a rough price is about all I'm looking for as well as anything special people might notice. It isn't nepal cache though as I know some of the story - it's been in this guy's possession since the early 90s and was bought from an even older fellow then as part of a moving sale, so it's been in Canada for a while.

well id say its worth a bit more because of its origins but the metal on the outside has a lot of bluing wear I have paid as much as $800 for one from here in the past but it was in good shape with the bluing turned plum brown etc. that said the other two I have bought have been under $500 with the last being around $350 because of a "dark" bore that turned out to be grease

Based on the outside condition, I would say around $350 - $400 in this area

!00% agreement

It's a MK IV

MK I - MK III short levers command a higher value, again always based on condition and previous ownership. (CDN issue commands a better price)

This MK IV as listed came out of India and was (refurbished in India) as seen by the numbers on the butt stock.

The butt stock is a conversion from a short lever.

Retailers may try to sell for more, but again, these a plentiful and are the most well used of all the Martini MK's.

Most of the Nepal cache, which this is not, has been driven hard and put away wet as the saying goes.
