Recently came across one of these so I'm wondering how much they are worth. This is a 22 LR walther pp made over in France due to laws disallowing Germany to sell firearms at the time. I believe the date on the pistol is 1954 and it comes with sport 6 inch barrel (restricted :) ), counter weight and one magazine

This is an exact copy of the pistol i saw earlier today

the gun is in beautiful condition for being something from the 50s. There was a few hairlike scratches probably from normal use and most of the blueing was still stop on. I only picked it up and handled it for about 5 minutes before giving it back to the owner. He mentioned he had extra mags for it going for $100 a piece...

I think i might contact the owner later and see if i can take another glance.

As mentioned by sillymike, I was also concerned when i saw "Made in France" because i admire 100% german walter pistols.

Im hoping he still has the original box, manual etc.

800-1200 depending on condition, and that is the usual price for pp sport mags

the thing is, if it has those grips and mag then its not original, this is how pp sports came from the factory

notice how the grips have an extra screw and the grips are target ones since its a target gun.

The one at the Thorncliff gun show Saturday was pretty decent in shape. Looked like a good deal, at $100/mag is fair for PP Sport (with that base, which is unusual).

They made the PP Sport in several different factory configurations, and 50s pistols were interesting. They were all made in Ulm, parts shipped over the border, assembled and proofed there... There is a lot of disinformation about how the made in Germany guns were actually French. Not so, the Walther factory in Ulm was quite busy, and the 50s and 60s pistols were exceptionally well finished. I have some early Manurhin examples that are much prettier than their later plain Walther marked versions. And of course all the parts fit and interchange, from 1930-whatever through to whenever it was in the 90s that they quit making them, in Germany and France.

My own favorite PP Sport version is the Manurhin long barreled PP, with the standard hammer and double action left intact.

This one is an 8", and the wooden grips also came from France.

The 6" you're looking at is less awkward and no less accurate. In all the ones I've seen, double action is disabled by putting a pin into the trigger, which can easily be removed by someone who knows how...

my early 50s manurhin also has a really nice finish and the double action. i prefer the 8" without the weight but i like the 6" with the weight

it is an unusual base, reminds me of the one for the ppk that paired with special grips for a full hand grip.

That is the exact Pp sPort I'm looking into getting. Did you notice anything wrong with it?

If you're serious, I'm sure the seller would meet you at an indoor range (needed this week) to test fire the little gem. Heavenisalie has bought pistols from him, as have I. Keep them clean, and like any .22, find the ammo that pistol likes (each one is different) and they'll shoot forever. I'd suggest you make it a "conditional sale" since you're in the same city and can do that. Let us know how it goes!
