I'm wondering the going price would be for a Finnish M-24. I saw it at a gun show over the weekend but didn't buy it then being unsure if it was a decent deal. The rifle is still available thankfully.
It is in un-molested condition, numbers match on the bolt and receiver. The bore looked nice but it was greased and I couldn't tell for sure. It has the "fir sprig" stamp as well as the stepped barrel. The vendor says he will swipe the bore and call me back with the details. He's a gunsmith and a Mauser collector.
What do you guys feel would be the going price for this rifle? Unfortunately I don't have any pics but it looks better than the examples from some of the Mosin sites on the web.
Any info would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

If the stock has nice character, VG bore and good + blueing I'd put it 400-500 if it was really nice I'd probly go higher but that just me, I love mosins and a m24 with a VG bore would be a very good shooter.

At $300 I'm inclined to think that a Fin M24 is worth every penny regardless of whether its a Bohler-Stahl or a SIG.

I've seen regular old Russian 91/30's in a gunstore for that much and the same 91/30 with a Chinese copy of a PU scope go for $800+. And all CGN'rs know that Trade-Ex was selling them for $125 a few months back.

As a side note, What WAS the receiver before the Finns got ahold of it? Sesterryovisk? Izehvic? Tula? Remington/GE/Westinghouse?

A bit of an update, he cleaned the bore to find it dark but not pitted. He also found the rifling to be strong and well defined. Should this affect the final price or is $300 a steal anyway?

It's a Bohler Stahl with a Tula receiver. The stamp on the top of the receiver had me guessing a bit because it is a little hard to make out. Another thing that I find odd is the fact that there is no SA markings. I have much to learn about these rifles, it sure is fun though. If anyone has any additional info on these, please post it!

Here are a few pics...

Very nice rifle! I just picked up an Finnish civil guard m91, it shoots REALLY well!

I find it strange that your gun is missing the SA stamp but it has the "S" proof on it. I thought all Finn mosins had the SA stamp on them? Mine is a 1909 And bares the SA stamp on the left of the receiver and an SS on the right.

Anyhow, once again nice score!!

Very, very nice find.If you handload get some Lapua brass and see magic happen before your eyes.

Makes me wish I had more space in safe (or another one).
