i was in a store today, that iv'e never been in and i was looking for an 870. i asked the guy behind the counter and he said 450$. i haven't really checked around to see prices for one but an all synthetics was only 450. that was new. i dont know exacts about the gun, like bbl length and all that info but that seemed like a good price for one. has anybody else heard of this price before for an 870 or am i just being stupid. i checked the dealers on the site here and they all seem to be around the 600 mark. so maybe there's something that im missing. like a good deal?

what do you guys think about the price?

i have seen them from $350-725 it depends on the barrel(s)/chokes, chamber size, and stock that it comes with. i know for a basic wooden stock and no extra barrels and in 3" chamber smooth bore its about 450. it all depends on the stores buying power, or availibilty to them from their supplier(s)

Check some online stores like Cabellas Canada and Wholesale Sports to get an idea of the going rate.

$399.98 for a 3" express at Cabellas.

forgot to mention, a big part will come from the amount of competing stores in the area. they will all try to give u 'their lowest price' What i would do is find some stores within 60-80km of where u live find the cheapest price, go to your local gun store and see if they will match it. if not just go to the store that will, but make sure u mention this to the store owner cause if they want your business/money bad enough they will match the price.

870 Express? 870 Wingmaster? 870 Marine Magnum? 870 Police Magnum? 870 Tactical? Barrel length? Gauge? Combo? (usually with an 18-20" slug barrel and a 26" barrel w/ rem-chokes). With the 870, there are way too many variables to give you a good answer without more information. But as suggested, go to wholesalesports.ca or cabelas.ca and brows the 870's for a good average baseline.

My 870 Express Home Defender cost $330 a year or so ago, if you want the tactical look at all I would go for one of there newer tactical model:

http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model-870/model-870-express-tactical.aspx

This has actually got my eye and it retails $500-$550 comes with a nice muzzle break, XS Ghost ring sights with rail and there new synthetic stock. Pretty decent deal IMO.

But saying that 'krausb' is right, whats at least the purpose hunting duck, hunting deer, home defense or badassery?
