Okay boys and girls, it has been so long since I was in the market for a spotting scope that I haven't a clue on this one.

Guy here has a Leupold Gold Ring 12-40 spotting scope to sell.

I checked Wholesale Sports to see what they are new, but they don't show this scope. Only list the Sequoia.

He brought it over to show me, however I don't need one. It is used, in very good, not excellent condition. Anyone have any idea what he should be asking for it?

Leupold Gold Ring Spotting Scope

I bought one on Ebay 6 years ago for $850 Canadian. It is clear and compact. It also has a 1" eye relief. Very nice scope. It is also light enough to take varmint hunting. It uses a a folding light path design using mirrors and is made of magnesium. You can't go wrong with a Leupold Gold Ring!

Be aware that there are two 12x40x60 models.I have the original model, and paid about $600 for it new when they first came out about 15 years ago.The new model is called the 12x40x60HD.To me the two models look identical, but supposedly there is a small difference in lens coatings.

Mystic player led me in the right direction on spotting scopes, so I should return the favour. Go to Cameraland's website. They're a site sponsor. The best bang for the buck right now is the pentax PF-65ED. It comes with a 20-60x zoom lense. Also look into upgrading the zoom lense to the zoom for the next level spotting scope. I'd have to look up the exact model number. I just kep the regular one, however upgrading the zoom to the best one may be worthwhile some day.

This spotting scope is very good for the money. About $550 US, including the lense. It's about as good as you can get before going to the $2000 range.
