Price check please

I am buying it sight unseen from a guy I know who is in a financial mess.
I am hoping it is in decent shape, which he says it is. Getting it tomorrow.
He called me tonight and asked if I would buy it.
So to help him out I said I would buy it for what he is asking...

I don't know anything about Winchesters which is why I asked in the first place

How's the stock on that gal Weeeeenie?

that one is long gone. I thought I had lost the mag or perhaps someone stole it out of the rifle on my table. It was missing for a while, so I bought the one at the gun show for it. Then I found the original mag, under the seat of my Grand Marquis, it even traveled to the USA for a weekend during that time! So the one I bought at the show is now for sale. It's not minty and some azz even scribed "good" on it, maybe that's why it was 5 bucks cheaper than the other one for $100.
Holy, I just asked Jr about it, he thinks it's for an 88! Says it will work in the 100, but not stay open on the last shot! If it is really worth a bundle, I'll go through the big gun show parts and pc's bag, am I going to Hawaii?:)

I'm asking about the price of the rifle with the detachable mag, not the price of the mag only.

Maybe my first post is a little confusing.

oh shoot! And here I sit as sober as a Judge, I'da understood proper if I had had the Bar open!

No wonder looky says say I ain't going to Honalooloo!

If the 88 is a pre 64(checkered stock) as opposed to a post 64(oak leaf impressed checkering) I think it is worth $650 give or take. The post 64 probably around $500. My 2 cents.

I believe the pre - post thing doesn't make a lot difference with the 88's and 100's. More so in the 94. I'd only want a pre in a 94.

It makes a difference in price with the 88 as the impressed checkered post 64 is butt ugly. Any pre 64 Winchester will bring a higher price than a post 64 in like condition.

Thanks for the input guys
It was made in 1958 according to the serial number data on Winchesters website
Looks to be in good to very good condition
It will be on the EE as soon as i can get some pictures taken

Again, thank you
