Price Check: S&W Model 36 "frame only"

What's a reasonable price for a S&W Model 36 that is registered as a "frame only" ?

This is the 5-shot, 38 Special snubnose revolver frame. It would come with all parts except the barrel.

My opinion, $50 if it was in nice shape, and then if you have access to a barrel.

Do you have the 12(6) class? Unless you put a 106+ mm barrel on it the Registrar will not consider it classed as Restricted even though it does not have the prohibited barrel on the gun.

In Canada, maybe somewhere between $50. and $300.

Condition is everything.

I wanted to put a 110mm barrel on it.

It's in very good condition. I'm trying to decide whether I should have it barreled and shoot it, or sell it and put the money towards a new toy.

It may be registered as a frame only, but is it registered as restricted or prohibited?
As Rudy H pointed out, unless actually rebarrelled with a 106+mm barrel, the RCMP won't reclassify it from prohibited to restricted.
And it is my understanding that if the 106+mm barrel is ever removed, the frame reverts to prohib, but not as a grandfathered 12(6).

There are factory 5 inch barrels available for the J frame.

It's registered as restricted.

I don't know if the current 5 inch barrels will fit - I think that they are the new 2-piece barrels.
