Price check...savage no4 barreled actions

Need help with fair market value on these 2 Savage stripped barreled actions.

"Top"
Not much finish left!
Has matching bolt that has some rust on it but cleaned up will be serviceable.
Barrel is pitted in spots badly and therefore un-serviceable, bayonet lugs are intact.
Action could be used as a donor, is fairly clean but some light pitting on butt socket.
US Property stamped

"Bottom"
Not much finish left!
No bolt.
I cleaned the bore a bit....barrel is frosted and may have some very light traces of pitting but should be serviceable, I certainly would use it as a donor. Pitting on outside, but not deep. Bayonet lugs intact. Stampings on top of knox form have been scrubbed but flaming bomb is stamped on bottom.
Action is drilled and tapped obviously and has some pitting.

Both are Savage marked , mk1* or mk1-2* or?? . Both have the forward bolt release. And both are different rifle, ... made at different time periods... maybe mk1* or mk1/2* the receivers are different from each other. Serial numbers would help a lot. I still don’t know why people hide serial numbers on firearms...why? Is there a reason?

Both are No. 4 Mk. I*.
Values would be nominal.

Bottom one has been drilled and for probably a Parker Hale A29 scope mount. If you still have that mount you can probably find someone who will want it.

No these were not in a fire......no sign of that! As far as the comment of them being "junk".....don't forget the old saying, "one man's junk is another man's treasure". If you saw them in a dumpster you'd probably be the first to dive in to the bottom to retrieve them, would be my guess!

Stored improperly in damp conditions would be my guess!

I beg to differ a bit.....there is serviceable parts!

Don't want to get in an argument nor will I....you are entitled to your opinion.....I am able to see the condition much better than what you see on the pictures! There are lots of old rifles out there that have been restored that were in similar rusty condition or worse and are now "shooter grade".

The bolt in the top picture is completely serviceable......no rust on locking lugs......bolt face is clean....yes there is pitting on the bolt handle but that's purely cosmetic, the rest of the rust will clean up........ if one doesn't care!
The action on the top has some light pitting on the butt-socket and other than that it is fairly clean......no rust internally in action at all!

The barrel on the bottom rifle is in my opinion "serviceable".....there are more than a few Enfields out there that are shooting just fine with similar pitting, I've seen a "few" when the barreled action is removed out of a full length stock and the bottom of the barrel is pitted and sometimes as well under the handguards, but more so underneath!

the most attractive item may be the bolt in that collection

so many parts missing that it would be a pain to source al the parts to put one of those back into shooting condition. Economically you are better buying one that is 'restored' then doing it yourself.

lets say $70 for the bolt and $40 for each barreled receiver would be my estimate. $150 for the package.

Right now, on the Switzer auction, there is a No. 4 Mk. I* sporter with no bolt, no magazine and a "fair" bore. Current bid is $280. Plus buyer's commission, delivery and tax. I cannot explain why some buyers will pay what they do.

OP's barreled receiver with bolt could be used as a basis for a project, if the balance of the parts could be had cheaply enough. Might be a good candidate for a pistol caliber carbine.
