Hello. It's liquidating season. I was wondering what the value of this sportered mauser would be?. It's a Carl Gustavs Stads from 1909. The stock is nice, but it looks like it had some sub-par work on the bolt. Scope is a super sweet Tasco Walmart edition. Thanks a lot.

I don't see a safety on it of any kind...
Take a look at Tradex hunting rifle section on their website, they have lots of these and that might help determine price.
Some of the work on that looks sketchy, stock looks like heavy stained or painted beech and not bad, but cheap aftermarket style stuff.
I think if you got $200 for it you would be doing well.

Yeah I see the safety now...
For comparison, this 1899 Obie sporter was $300 from Tradex (I added the scope after, it wasn't included).
Walnut stock, beuhler safety, nicely bent bolt, sights removed and reblued, d&t straight.

Shoots PRVI into an inch as well.

Some of the work looks OK but the safety was left a bit rough. Problem with this is selling as a package no one wants to pay much. If you were to piece meal it out you should do better, I would guess 300.oo. Some of the parts are getting hard to find, the bolt is an example should go for 80-100, stock 100, scope&rings 100. barreled action 120. trigger?, bottom metal etc.

Pretty massive shim under the front base there too, not sure what's going on there.

All I've ever heard is that rifles made by Carl Gustav were top quality. I once handled a Gustav M96 in somewhat more original form than these, built in 1910, and was impressed by metal fit and finish, and smoothness of the action. Thought it would be a great rifle for a project to build it into a sporter.

I don't think these come in anything other than 6.5 Swede...?

Anything up to $300.00 would be a good buy for this one, IMHO. I'd gas the scope though.

This looks like a M96 action and would be an okay build keeping in mind original chamber pressures, not current high pressure loads. Good youth/starter gun...
