Price check: Tikka T3 varmint 6.5x55 (stainless)

Yeah at WSS it was about that (I was looking to acquire one too), but with the new Tikka prices, I would shop around & double check on the subject.

Should be about $100 cheaper but I could be wrong.

I don't get why you need to start a thread to find out what the going price on a Tikka Varmint is? It's not like it would be hard to find out on your own?

have you tried wholesalesports, russels, SIR, lebaron, ect.?

or maybe you don't have access to the inter-net:slap:

I'm so sorry I wasted your time. You know, all the time it would have taken to skip over the thread or hit the back button.

It's crap like this that gets our guys mad at each other.......the guy wants to know if he is getting hosed?....He is relying on us. Why crap on him? Isn't that what part of this site is for?

The price sounds a tad high. I would check some of the sponsors for prices....even if you only save $20 bucks it would be worth it. Perhaps if they can't beat the price, maybe they will match it.

You chose a nice rifle. Congrats

Goose25, not EVERYONE knows of the best place to by something, and I even forget half the URLs to dealer websites sometimes...being that it's firearms related, I think this is likely the BEST place to ask.

From what I know, Wholesalesports has the best price at this time Dave.

DaveMachine, I don't really see why you want to go to the varmint model, especially if price is an issue.

I have a stainless Tikka T3, 6.5x55, in stainless, standard taper and it shoots 95 grain Vmax bullets into -1/2in groups at 100yds and 1/2in at 200yds and minute of coyote right out to 400 meters. It only misses when I don't do my part.

I have shot several T3 rifles in both varmint and standard weight bbls and it's almost impossible to find any real advantage with the heavier bbl. The standard weight offerings are at least $400 cheaper as well, a whole new reloading outfit includeing dies and compnents. bearhunter

DaveMachine:

$945 tax in was a good price last December. Given the recent price drop, it pays to shop around by first trying the CGN sponsor sites first.

You may need to order one as the vendor may not have the exact caliber in stock.

I would think that that is a reasonable price. If they have it in stock then grab it. A few dollars one way or another won't mean as much over the life of a rifle - get what you want now. It took me nearly a year of waiting to get my rifle (the same configuration and caliber) because no body had them in stock and it had to be brought it from Tikka through their distributor, Stoeger. To the best of my knowledge Tikka is the only company offering a heavy barrel in 6.5x55. I often use mine at club level competitions where the course of fire is upwards of 50 rounds in half an hour - the heavy barrel does make a difference.

Fluting

That I can bring to Corlane Sports to get some fluting done to the barrel!! :p

Corlane's does great work. I have had a few barrels fluted by them. Even seen a few T3 Varmints come out of their shop fluted.

As for price ofhe Varmint Stainless, it sounds like a fair price for new as to what I seen them for last year.

Just make sure it's a 2008 (current) price and remember - everything is negotiable. $945 tax-in is in the zone. Question is: is it in stock?

Good luck! SD

Side Note - Although I agree 100% with seeking the most cost effective solution, be careful trying to save $20 bucks (or more) here - I got into a s**t-storm over $20. It's all good now but man, it was a good one...
