To put that in perspective though, that price would have been from somewhere in the early 70s, or more than 40 years ago. Average guy back then was making about $4-6,000 a year. Relatively, loading components, and particularly reloading gear is way cheaper today then 40 years ago. I have some old RCBS dies from 1968 that have the price tag of $24 on them. They are only $42 today.
Money invested 40 years ago would be worth over 16 times what it was when invested, so the money tied up in those primers would be over $11 today. Give that some thought when you think about stockpiling large amounts of non-resale goods. If a guy is worried you won't get them at all then it makes sense, if you are stocking up so you can be using "cheaper" components, you would be far better off with the money invested in an earning asset.
