price for Sig 551?

hey guys, I have a line on a sig551 with 2 20rnd and 8 30 rnd mags, and a silencer. The barrel is "somewhat" broken in with about 7000 rounds through it. He is asking 5K for the works. Is this a fair price?

Also what are some common problems to look out for?

Oh, I guess I should state for the nazis that I am NOT currently residing in Canada, and this rifle with NOT come back home with me:(
 
I'm not sure what the standard pricing is around here yet, I just wanted to get a feel for what range I should expect.
 
I guess the question is can more FA be imported to Norway and sold new? Is there a huge tax on guns in Norway? I think the 551 should run at or less than the Specials we get here at civie retail. For wholesale they are much less.
 
Nope not worth it... You can get one from wolverine for half that. I just picked up a HKSL8 and I have a SIG "BLACK SPECIAL" The HK isn't as "black" as the sig but it shoots just as well.

I think if you compared retail prices in Canada (assuming a $700 dollar value for the silencer for what they could/should go for if they were legal) and not withstanding the F/A capability of the Sig 551 vs. a civilian PE-90, you'd be in around the $4200 mark for all of that if it were new/gently used.

None of the above compares apples to apples however.....

ya that's roughly what I was thinking too. There is a big tax on guns(and every other damn thing) but I don't think it would justify that price. Thanks for the help guys
 
My cousin tried to bring a car from Hungary into NO. The tax would have been more than the cost of the new car. Norwegian taxes make Canada look like a freeport zone.
