Hi

I am looking at a German K98 being offered by a retailer. The price is $885 plus tax shipped to me which is higher than most I see for sale.. It does look in excellent condition. I know very little about these guns in regard to value.
I am not selling this gun. I am thinking of buying it. It is a German K98 Oberndorf 1945. The extractor serial number is not matching. Clean shiny bore.

Question ... is this a reasonable price? Is it a rip or should I snatch it up? Thanks. Link to pics https://germank98oberndorf1945cgn.shutterfly.com/

I hope it works.

Thanks for your help.

Nice rifle, and it will someday be worth the asking price. Don't hold your breath, though. As above, better price would be around $600. I've seen some exceptionally nice RC's for $600 or less. But, whatever rings your bell.:)

The OPs rifle looks like one of the K98s that was refurbed post war for the East German Police. IMHO it is far more desirable than an RC and should command a better price than an RC. At least with the pictured rifle attempts have been made to keep the serial numbers as matched as possible from original.

That rifle is soaked in history. Made during the last months of WWII, may not have been issued but still upgraded to the new standards. I would take that rifle over an RC in a heartbeat.

$900 may be a tad high but $800 would definitely be in the ball park.
