I was at wholesale yesterday and figured I'd pick up a couple boxes of 17HMR shells since I was out. The Remington 17HMR's have gone up to $13.99/box!!!! They used to be $12.49!!! Anyone else see this price jump? A $1.50/box is a little ridiculous  :x

must be passed on from the price of gas going up and having them trucked along

Riiiiigght.....

Alrighty then. The box of CCI 17hmr sitting in front of me is 3-1/2" x 1-3/4" x 1-3/4". (being generous, actual dimensions are somewhat smaller.)

Lets see how many boxes we could fit in this truck

My calculations show you could put just shy of 603,000 boxes of 17HMR ammo in it.

At $1.50 a box *fuel costs* there would be about $900,000.00 available to truck that ammo quite a few times around the country. Makes sense the $1.50 is for fuel, doesn't it........

Maybe we saw the price coming down a bit last year, and we all ran out and bought guns, figuring the price would continue to drop. Now that we are hooked............

I'm still ticked at the price.....but on the leverarms.com website they're sitting at $14.99/box   So far the chepest is thru SIR at $12.49/box, but if wholesale has put up their price, I'm sure SIR isn't far behind!

Actually, the flyer from SIR on my desk right now has all 3 brands at $11.99, good til Dec 24.

Might want to stock up for christmas. :D

The flaw in this logic, is that its not a single truck. Maker, shipper, distributor, sufferage, wholsaler and retrailer are all adding a penny or two to cover their increased fuel costs.

More likely, supply is not keeping pace with demand. Maybe CCI or Hornady has a plant down for maintenance.

$1.50 is a 15% increase. That's about what the fuel increase was where I live, 15%. THAT is the only thing that should increase 15% is the fuel. Fuel costs are a small portion of getting a box of 17HMR ammo on the shelf in a store near you.

If it WERE the case, that box of 22lr sitting next to it in the store weighs the same, if not more. Gonna quietly sit there when you pay $3.50-$4.00 a box for your plinker stuff? Or $15.00 a brick more? :D

Don't get sucked into that idea you have to see a huge price increase in consumer goods because the price of fuel went up.
