I was looking through a local pawn shop too see what they had in the firearm department. They had some stuff I like, but way overpriced ($600 for a Poly M14 and 700 for a Beretta 92S). They also had a talking Parrot (not for sale) which is neat, but what I really thought was interesting is that in the cage, under layers of Parrot sh*t, was a Sten being used as a perch. I am assuming its a Dewat, so I was wondering how much would it have been worth? I am assuming the shop had no idea what its actually worth, as it was my understanding that Dewat Stens can fetch quite a pretty penny if in good shape.

A Sten covered with piles of ammonia enriched parrot sh*t? Discount the price by 50%.

I do find it odd that a pawn shop in BC can still sell guns. Most had their firearm dealer license yanked years ago.

I figured it would, I meant before it was used as a perch.

Or it can be a FA Sten pawned by a gangsta. You just never know what's in those shady pawn shop.

Try and contact "stencollector". He does the best "dewatt" work going!! I bought 2 very nice "#### and click" Stens from him 2 years ago. I paid $250.00 each back then, but I now see them sold out here in B.C. between $400.00 and $500.00 now.

Like everything else..the price keeps going up!!

The guy you are talking about will be out of the country for a bit.

Pretty much all of the valuations I have seen on this thread are right in the ballpark. A crappy reweld with butchered or missing parts and spray painted finish can run as low as $150-200, while collectors source will sell you a very clean example for up to $500. I find that the price variation, with all other factors of quality and model being equal, will vary on which country produced the gun, and variations on the markings. Generally, a Long Branch mk2 is worth more than a Brit made example. A Long Branch mk2 with Chinese script is worth less than a non Chinese script Long Branch, but more than a British made Mk2.
