Has anyone else noticed the price of bullets has risen appx. 40% lately.
I bought a box of hornady 75 gr. v-max on the weekend and the price was
$38 from $25 the last time. This was at Gobbles in London ON. What I was told was that the chinese were buying all the lead.
I'm not sure what to believe.

They are buying everything else on the planet so its a good guess.

They are ramping up to produce cars and other thing that come with a booming economy and are currently consuming more raw materials than the globe can provide.

In know!

I just ordered some bullets from Russells and the price was up by as much as 42% on certain types!!
(I did notice the lot numbers on some boxes were the same as ones I had ordered over a year ago though ..............

$38 bucks:onCrack: Gobbles is way out of line when it comes to pricing on bullets. Wholesale Sports price is $21.99, thats only a couple bucks more then the US price.

good chance they have not brought in any new bullets yet in the past few months, If they are still riding on stock from last year that would explain that price.. a 300% increase in lead costs does not seem to have affected bullet prices by 300% yet.. so enjoy cheap bullets now, like you are cheap gas!!

if you can call 1.00 /l cheap!

Prices are still going up. Does anyone think that once we pay these HIGH prices that they will ever return to normal. Fat chance?????

Prices will come down IF:

Huge sustained increase in production by doing away with all environmental protection,
Mining companies want to start giving away their products
Nobody wants metals anymore
Global Recession

So the answer is => Ya right......

My Reloading supplier was told to expect large price increases in all components this year. Anywhere from 28% and up price increase.........

SKBY.

You make him sound like a drug dealer, I guess it is almost like a drug for some of us.:p

Metal prices have been high for some time. If the bullet manufactures have been able to hold off price increases until now then consider us lucky.

I personally wouldn't know about current bullet prices though. I still have about 50,000 pistol bullets that I paid $450 for the lot. It will be some time before I have to buy again.

Roughly 25% increase in retail price of high demand loaded ammunition in the last 6 months. Components will be going the same way, but as component supplies don't tend to turn over as quickly it will take longer to catch up, I think.

paid 54 or thereabouts for 1000rds of 115fmj 9mm from higginson back in 05. now its up to 67. meh.

My cast boolits made from wheelweights for my M 14, Husquavarna 30-06, Win 94 30-30 and LE Longbranch .303 Brit still cost about the same ....zero, Well that is a bit of a lie propane does add something to the cost to smelt the WW and there is the cost of my home made lube...:D The wheelweights are free.

Sounds good, Bob.

I need about 3000 in 124gr SWC 9mm, 5000 in 200gr SWC 45. Have them ready by next friday.

Actually, drop them off for me, would you, I'm pretty busy, but I don't mind giving you $5-$10 for free bullets.

Thanks again.

When you were in grade school did you ever read the story about the little red hen and her baking?:D

ps Looking at my reloading shelve I have 2,000 124 gr lubed boolits for my 9MM, about 500 for my .40 and 3,000 for my .45acp. Little short on the 9MM but will correct over the next few days. .308/.30-06 run around a couple hundred of each and twice that for .303 brit.:shotgun:
