I have been looking for a Savage 93R 17HMR second hand gun.
I have no idea what prices on these guns was a year or two ago but right now most Gun shops sells them brand new "Model 93R17-FV" for $325 + tax

What would be a good second hand price to pay ?

I talked to a few people that had 93R's for sale one guy wanted $250 and another $300 but I turned them down because I felt that it was too much if a brand new one is only $325.

Do I want to go too low ??? Is that the price of a second hand gun ?

Is it better to buy a new one or is it worth saving $50 on a year old gun ????

Thanks

Interesting. I was looking around recently for similiar, missed out on a couple of reasonable deals so eventually ordered a new Savage 93R. $300 plus taxes, a number of mail order places (SIR, Russels etc.) have 'em for @ $280 plus taxes and delivery. I get a brand new rifle, the dealer will mount and bore sight the scope for free. The new rifles come with the Accu Trigger which I am told is a big improvement on last years and older models.
So, for maybe $75 more than used, I get a new rifle with Accu Trigger, from a dealer for after sale service and a warantee. To me, that's worth the $75.
Seems that used firearms really don't depreciate much and the HMR's are still a relatively new gun so there has not been much of a used market developed yet.

Thanks for the reply ...

Like you said, seems as if used guns don't depreciate in value much ... good thing for the guy that wants to sell his gun, bad thing for somebody that wants to buy a used gun.

I think I will go for a new gun then ..... That extra $75 is not that much if you think you are getting a brand new gun with the accu trigger.

you get what you pay for .bought mine 2 yrs ago . only fault i have found is the mag is prone to unloading itself occationallly.accuracy is excellant .have shot 3000+thought it so far .have found slight accuracy dif between manufactures. have fun with it!
