i want to know about good prices (for the buyer) i have been looking about and have found some redicklus prices. These are some m1's from epps UG16793

NON-RESTRICTED US RIFLE M1 GARAND WINCHESTER MFG SEMI-AUTO .30-06 WIN BBL VG BORE, BOLT, TRIGGER MECH, LOCK BAR REAR SIGHT, SA UNCUT OPROD VERY GOOD $2029
UG16792

NON-RESTRICTED SPRINGFIELD M1 GARAND SEMI-AUTO .30-06 95% CORRECT PARTS, BBL BORE VG, UNCUT OPROD VERY GOOD $1529

Like if i was going to pay over two thousend dollers for a m1 garand i would want it to some with about 5 extra ones or be made from solid gold and owned by Elvis. To me a good price is 400-650 max for any m1 garand. I have found some at ps militaria witch seem to be vary high still for a garand in the 2 million serial number range .

US Issue M-1 Garand Rifle, made by International Harvester Co., with 12/1955 dated barrel, worn finish on metal, many dents and dings on stock, Nice Bore, cal. 30-06 Gov., Good to VG cond., $700.00 Can + shipping

Now with me going off on a rant who has the best prices on M1's I want to get a international harvester m1. I think that 600 should buy a vary good one. I have sold a M1 made by springfeild with a serial number of 45000 for $700 but it was like new and a vary low serial number. So if you have a Garand you want to sell by International let me know or if you can tell me whare there is one that i can get with out puting a lean on my truck i would like to know.

Lots of things influence the price of M1's. Lockbar sights and uncut oprods are rare and collectible and command a premium.
Those prices are nuts though.

Check out milarm.com .They are out of Edmonton & may have some left. Not sure of conditions or Manufacture. Give em a call. Good people to deal with. Al can answer probably all your M1 questions.

I think $600 should buy me an all-matching No4T. However that's not the way capitalism and supply and demand work.

Well, as I'm sure you know, those Garands are collectors items and not "700$ shooters". I believe the uncut oprod and condition accounts for those prices. I wouldn't shoot those guns.

Good luck to both of you guys....... ;)

In a few short years the same guys will keep crying on those prices of years gone -by.

You either buy it now or someone else will and faster than you can see it come and go.

Worse than that, some really beated ones still get those 4-5-600 dollars and then you find out about this and that and so on and so forth that you now have to change, repair or endure................

Good stuff command good pay same for labor and work.

Voila!!!!

Your value estimates remind me of my dad's eyes rolling when I bought a '66 Mustang in 1990, for $5,000. He said, "Good God! I can buy those things all day long for $500!" I just replied, "Show me one."

Same is true with IH Garands. If/when CMP gets one, it goes onto the auction. And it fetches a couple of grand if it's somewhat decent. The days of $600 IH Garands are gone with the $500 classic Mustangs.
Your best bet for $600 is a decent mix-master field grade Springfield.

If they are rated Good to Very Good, why wouldn't they make good shooters? I don't know much about the ratings system yet, but I do know it isn't just about appearance. In fact from what I have seen, sometimes the scruffier looking ones make great shooters.

Curious, does one need the clip to shoot a Garand? Can it be loaded and fired without, like the LE and MN?

I was sure all the M1's P&S has would sell out in a week even at the $600-$700 he is asking. Most of them are still listed on the site.

Anyway, this is a personal matter and our relative capacity to pay or willingness to pay is also changing over time.

I know where I could get a super M1D but can't resolve to pay the price yet.....

life is life.

Garands can be modified to shoot single shot only for competition purposes, but with clips only $1.50-$2.00 apiece, it is easy to buy a dozen or so.

Thanks, I figured as much...besides, what is a Garand without the BANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANG PING!!

:D

I've only been "collecting" guns for 6 years or so, hunting for much longer, but that is a different story.

I bought my first Garand when www"dot"gunscanada was up and running and I had to bid against myself to get my bid above the minimum bid price of $250. I wanted the gun and was tired of losing out on bids because I was determinedd not to pay more than $220 for one, (they were that back then, the odd time).

That was about 5 years ago and I lucked into an early winchester, (I just wanted a garand).

So after a few years, they show up on CGN EE forum for $350-400. I feel like I did quite well.

I see now they are $600 or more in value.

I won't be surprised to see them go up even more. So.....

If you want one, buy one now. They should not get less expensive and they sure are'nt making them anymore.

Now the only hole in this theory, (from my point of view), is that I bought a german K98 a while back for $600. Not a Russian capture mind you, but I can get Russian one now for under $400. So if I could go back in time, I would have held off on the K98 and would have got the Russian capture.

But hey, hindsight is 20-20.

What a coincedence...I just bought both, a RC K98 with the German markings still on it and a Harrington & Richardson Garand.

Had to spend that OT on something!! :D
