Hi there. I have a question regarding prices. I have a friend selling a SKS 1954 Tula matching hardware with a 1951 stock, and all accessories for $300. He is also selling a Mosin Nagant with sling and bayonet for $250. He bought them approximately 10 years ago and are unfired and still full of cosmoline. The SKS stock is not matching to the hardware. The Mosin Nagant is missing the screw driver tool and bayonet sheath.

I do not want to insult him, but are these good prices?

Thanks in advance.

overpriced for sure...you can get unissued SKS's for $240..everything matching....I'd pay $150 tops for an un-matching shooter. Mosin's are $199 or less from many dealers with all the accessories..a bit more for a hex receiver. If it's an original sniper that's a different story

What is the draw of the hex reciever, just more rare, or is it better in some way?

I'm no expert...have asked the same question myself. They are from ex-dragoon rifles rebuilt into the 1891/30 Mosin. Some will claim that they have higher quality fit/finish than the 91/30's with wartime build dates.

They only made hex receivers till 1935 in izhevsk and 1936 in Tula, most of whats available is 40-45 and they usually has better machining then the war production rifles wich were made to fast in some cases.

$200-250 tops for SKS.
Don't know enough about Mosins to comment.
