Recently bought a Primary Weapons FSC-556 flash suppressing compensator and installed it on my Bushmaster 20" AR15 (M16A4 clone) replacing the standard A2 muzzle device. So I thought I'd share my thoughts in a short review.
Install as you would expect was easy. Remove and replace, the shim set was very easy to use. Took minutes.
After it was installed I put on my bayonet and it's no longer compatible and that was really, REALLY disappointing cause I love my battle rifles to have their respective bayonets. So I must admit it almost never made it to the range, was pretty bitter!! But I told myself to look past this until I shot the rifle to see if the benefit out weighted this frustrating disappointment.
Got to the range this past week and after the first shot I felt the benefit. First shot I said "Oh yeah!! This is dirty". Enough said really.
Have to admit it was better then I expected. The recoil to the rear and the muzzle rise are both noticeably less if you know the feel of the A2. Quick bursts/double taps were more controlled. Enjoyed shooting the rifle even more.
Overall, I'm still bummed about the bayonet and I may down the road put the A2 back on and put this devise on another AR when I get one. BUT, I do love it on the 20" barrel and glad I left it on. Bayonets for me are more for looks then function of course.
I would recommend this muzzle device again and again to anyone with an AR (as long as you know your bayonet will no longer work).
Cheers
