Sooo just got my rifle in mail after some cerakote work.

I put a full 20 round box of Federal Reds through it with amazing results!

I then moved onto trying some Doubletap Nosler Accubond ammunition.....I only put one round downrange and had a problem. When I tried to open the bolt to eject the casing the bolt was stuck....I did manage to get it open and this is what I found.

I unloaded the rifle....and inspected the chamber, bolt face, etc for any signs of damage, but couldn't find any.
I put some more rounds through the rifle (hornady SST) and noticed that the accuracy was significantly affected. The groupings opened up a good 3-4 inches.

Here are some more pictures. Please, if you have any advice let me know....really stuck on this one!

Anything I should be looking for damage wise Jerry?
Just trying to narrow it down as to why the grouping have opened up as much as they did!
I did only us the hornady rounds after the blowout though....

Clean the boltface and look for pitting that can be caused by blown primers. That's about it. The other ammo could of just shot poorly. I had some Hornady Match 75gr .223 that would blow primers and shot the worst of all factory .223 I've shot.

You will need to try the ammo that gave you good results again, I bet it will be back to normal, I only use factory match ammo in my .308 and get 1/4 MOA with stuff it likes up to 2-2-1/2 MOA at 100 yards with stuff it does not.

That's very reassuring!
I'm just paranoid something internally was affected by the blowout....
I didn't have any federal red's left so possibly tomorrow I'll go out and see what happens. Really hoping it's back to normal.
I was getting similar results with fed reds....but when using the hornady factory ammo after the blowout it opened up to well over 2 inches. Not sure if a "disliked" ammo would make my groupings open up that much.
I'm shooting out of a super beefy barrel (1.25" from shank to muzzle) so heat shouldn't play a factor.

Maybe after the primer issue your nerves were shaken up a bit, I know mine would have been, and that affected your shooting.

I personally find that equipment issues (feeding issues and the like) are incredibly frustrating and impact my shooting quite a bit. I had a ring/scope issue a number of years back where it was slipping and it really brought me down.

What is your lot number on that ammo? I bought a box out of laziness so I didn't have to work up a load for an upcoming moose hunt. I experienced stiff bolt lift with flattened and cratered primers and inconsistent pressures. Exact same ammo 165gr accubond .308 win.

Not sure where to find the lot number on these boxes....but the day of manufacture for this ammo is stamped Sept 28th 2015....found the date stamp just on the inside of one of the opening flaps.

should be on one of the end flaps on the inside. On the box I have here it also has a sticker at on end on the bottom of box at one end with range/velocity/100/200/energy chart and bar code and what I assume is lot number mine is .308 Win. 165gr ACCUBOND and 60049 which I take for lot number. on the end flap inside it shows 1458 06911 and 60049 so its kind of up in the air which is lot number

I had a box of Federal Tactical 165gr do that, almost every 3rd or 5th round. In one instance, a primer got blown out and ended up down into the trigger mechanism and got lodged in there. Had to remove the mechanism to get it out.

But no damage was done to the rifle or bolt, so I just pulled the rest and kept the brass for my reloads.

Lucky that load wasn't much hotter or you would have have had a lot of gas coming back with that weakened extractor cut out.

I remember that day lol talk about frustrated

Are you shooting factory ammo in a match chamber or was the chamber cut saami ? this can cause pressures sometimes due to the tighter freebore diameter it would be interesting to see what the primers looked like after firing on the other cases that held up.

I think this is a faulty lot of ammunition guys, not a chamber issue. I've contacted the canadian distributor. I tried contacting the manufacturer but their phone number doesn't seem to work.
