Have a consistent problem with feeding of primers on my 550B. The primer cup on a primer feed bar doesn't go all the way under the primer tube on a downstroke. Happens with all types of primers. Takes disassembling the primer feed system and tweaking around with the primer tube to get it going. I tried everything - changing plastic ends on the primer tube, varying the tightness of the screw cap on top - nothing worked. After crolling on the floor picking up spilled primers one by one, it gets pretty annoying. Any suggestions?

Go to the primer system schematic. Move the operating rod bracket down as far as you can on the primer housing, this will cause the operating rod to make the primer slide to move further under the primer tube. I had this exact problem with one of my presses and the and the above was my cure.

Failing that call Dillon direct they give great help over the phone.

Thanks a lot, I'll try that and let you know the results.

There is a screw to adjust how far back the primer arm goes, just unscrew it a bit to allow it to come back more. In the diagram in the link above the screw is: P/N 13961 Slide Pickup Adjustment Screw

Primer Feeding Problem on 550B

Haven't tried fiddling with the Slide Pickup Adjustment Screw yet, but what I did was the following:

1. Took the primer slide bar out;
2. Loosened the small screw on the side of the bar that is holding the primer cup cylinder post with the spring;
3. Put the primer cup cylinder in a vice, squeezed a bit and tightened the screw back, thus lowering the primer cup's position a little bit on the primer slide bar.

Seemed to work after that; now, with the primer cup seated lower, nothing obstructs the primer cup sliding all the way under the primer tube.

If that fails to work for some reason, will try to play around with the Slide Pickup Adjustment Screw.

Thanks everybody for your input.
