Anybody remember the great prime famine of the ~early 90's?
For some reason, a rumour got started that a law was coming that would require all primers to be made so that they would go stale (no longer work) after a couple of years.
The fear was that the gov. could then ban all primer sales and all the current ones would be dead in a few years.
So the buying frenzy started.
After a few months, everyone that was concerned had stashed away a lifetime supply, and suddenly the factories had an oversupply. That was about the time I was going to a big gunshow in WA. I seem to remember the price being about $12/1000 or $55/5000.
Several times I bought a flat of 5000.
Funny thing is, I soon got into buying surplus ammo really cheap, so didn't do much reloading! Now I'm going to fire up the press and crank out some rounds with all the old components I have stashed away.
