Primer Question

I was wondering if there was any problem in using Large magnum rifle primers in place of standard large rifle primers when reloading for 30/06.

They won't bother anything, but you don't need them for most powders. Magnum primers are intended for hard to light powders. They burn a bit longer and a bit hotter than regular primers.
Remember if you change primers, you must work up the load again.

I realize you don't need them nor is the $3.00 per 100 primers an issue.Its just that I have about 10,000 match magnum primers for other loads and was wondering if there was any harm done pressure wise and ETC.

No problem so long as you work your load up with them. Might be a slight advantage if you are using slower powders.

If the only thing you change is the primer, then yes, the pressure will increase. Hence the suggestion to work up the load using the magnum primer.

I've got a different but related question about primers.

Does it matter how you prime your brass? I recently bought an RCBS handprimer but have heard that it may not be the best way to prime my brass. Does the method for priming brass matter? Will it affect the consistancy by using a hand primer as opposed to something bench mounted?

My own system is a magnum primer when I load more than 50.0 grs of powder, or if I intend to use the cartridge in very cold weather.

Your RCBS hand primer will work fine, but pay attention to make sure there are no primers sticking up above the case head. These priming tools can be used very quickly, but do not let speed take the place of quality.
