Hey guys,I have about 300 22-250 cases primed with winchester large rifle primers and was going to buy some more Varget and load up,but I was going through my supplies and found 2lbs of H450 and started going through some loading manuals and found some loads for the 22-250 using H450 but they ask for a magnum primer. Do I buy some more Varget or is it safe to load with a regular large rifle primer and H450?????. The load data is as follows.
55gr bullet
H450 43.0gr 3618fps
41.0gr 3447fps
39.0gr 3268fps

This data is from a number ten speer manual (circa 1979).

It would be safe to use the regular primers as long as you work your loads up. H450 is a ball powder and often magnum primers are used because ball powder is harder it ignite. Unless you're shooting in extreme cold, I can't see the regular primers causing you any problems.
